Wild Horse Acres

Wild Horse Acres; South

Wild Horse Acres; South.

One can ride south from Wild Horse Acres and they will find the U. S. Government's wild horse operations center. The center is about 4 miles. When one reaches the wild horse operations center, they are leaving the south east end of the BLM wild horse sanctuary.

Wild Horses don't know this is the south end of their sancuary however. One can ride a horse south, almost into Reno Nevada. However, around about 12 - 20 miles south lies a U.S. Government military reservation. One should not ride a horse on this reservation as they may be shot at. It is not so much the horse which would be shot at either.

Also to the south is Honey Lake. Honey Lake is a very large shallow alkali water mass fed by underground springs. Honey Lake has water all year round. However, Honey Lake is controlled by the government and it is not a recreational area.

From the location of this picture, Wild Horse Acres only extends about a quarter of a mile.
