Wild Horse Acres; Eagle Lake & Horse Lake

Eagle Lake & Horse Lake are north west of Wild Horse Acres.

Although one must cross California Highway 395, one can ride a horse from Wild Horse Acres to Eagle Lake & Horse Lake on government BLM land. Additionally, very close to Wild Horse Acres is a crossing which will allow an equestrian to access the government land on the west side of Highway 395.

Horse Lake is a remote lake about 20 miles north west. Horse Lake is not easily accessible by road. However, there is a poorly kept dirt road which does go to Horse Lake.

Eagle Lake is a very pretty California Lake. It is very wooded. There is a campground near by. Eagle Lake has a small airport. There are a couple towns around Eagle Lake but mostly it is logging lands. Eagle Lake has a good paved road to it. Eagle Lake is not very remote and as such has its share of people there.

From Horse Lake to Eagle Lake by horse is not a straight line. This is sort of the south west end of BLM land. As such, private property dots the area and one must take that in consideration. However, it is possible to ride a horse all the way to Eagle Lake.

The time it will take to ride a horse to Eagle Lake is about two days if you know the route from Wild Horse Acres. By car from Wild Horse Acres it is about an hour.

This picture shows a large chunk of Wild Horse Acres. To say Wild Horse Acres goes as far as you can see is not an accurate statement. But Wild Horse Acres goes quite a ways out. In this direction, Wild Horse Acres goes about a mile to a mile and a half. Almost all the flat land you can see is Wild Horse Acres.
