Both the Alturas Power Transmission Line and the Tuscarora Gas Line come together just above the north end of Wild Horse Acres and parallel each other across Wild Horse Acres and Highway 395 at the west end of Wild Horse Acres. The Alturas Power Line heads off in a south easterly direction around the middle of Wild Horse Acres and the Tuscarora Gas Line continues to go south till it leaves Wild Horse Acres at the southern end. They both go across Wild Horse Acres. In effect, the come together at the north end and separate around the lower south end. This is a perfect place for a gas powered electric power plant.

This map shows a large portion of Wild Horse Acres is in a 100 year flood zone. Generally speaking, this is the 1200 acre portion that is a dry lake bed. There is a large amount of Wild Horse Acres that is not in the 100 year flood zone.

Wild Horse Acres is generally a set of square parcels encompassing the east half of the dry lake. This view shows the dry lake as a very predominant feature. The road, gas line, and power line are all visible in this satelite picture. The road, gas line, and power line are paralleling each other and go right through the center of the lake. The gas and electric power lines are east of the road. An interesting note is not all the dry lake is in the 100 year flood zone. Also, there are definite elevated areas clearly out of the 100 year food zone of Wild Horse Acres that are clearly visible too. Wild Horse Acres contains a large part of the dry lake but it also has some of the elevated ground around the dry lake to the east, south, and north of the dry lake.
