Location of Susanville

Susanville

Susanville is 26 miles from Wild Horse Acres.

Wild Horse Acres is located where the red arrow is. The x's are not were Wild Horse Acres is about the middle right hand side. You may notice that Susanville is not on US Highway 395. You may also notice that Litchfield is on US Highway 395 and that there is a junction which goes to Susanville. People have asked how come they lost US 395 when they were trying to find Wild Horse Acres. So, it is important to note that 395 heads northeast a bit past Janeville and does not go into Susanville. Additionally, there is a relatively good road to the northeast just past Buntingville and Honey Lake that one can take as a short cut. It will save a little time but not much. US Highway 395 is well marked. But, it is hard to lost if one travels to Wild Horse Acres in the summer time. If it is snowing, it may not be wise to take shortcuts in that area.

The map shows two lakes in the general area. Honey Lake, about 10 miles south, which is not a good lake to swim in because it is very alkali. And, Eagle Lake, some 50 miles by road through Susanville north, which is a very pretty lake.

It may be an over statement to say all roads in that area lead to Susanville. But, as you can see, almost all the roads sort of generally head in the direction of Susanville. Susanville is clearly the hub of Lassen County California.
