One thing you should notice. It's the color of the water. Clear water is blue not green. This time of year it is truly unfair to compare water quality between Monterey and Santa Cruz, but the fact is, water clarity in Monterey surpasses Santa Cruz all the time. Why is this important you say? It is because Santa Cruz and Monterey face each other on the sides of the same bay. The difference in water clarity is amazing.

Sit back at the Hotel's indoor outdoor restaurant and watch the pier. Nothing is going to happen to the pier but it's nice to take a shower and kick back and watch the pier after a morning dive. Right from Monastery Beach to the dive shop, to the Hotel. Being a little sticky, smelly and uncomfortable makes for the ambiance. You'll really want to get to the hotel, take a shower, sit back, ponder the pier.

It's best to ponder what's under the pier than see it. Years ago it was fun to dive off the pier there. Now days the seals have taken that place over too. The odds are, if you and your buddy went diving right off shore just under the pier, a real seal team would discuss with you the finer points of trespassing.

If the kids aren't tired yet, it's ok. The board walk of Santa Cruz has many interesting arcades and rides. The kids should be fairly ridden out by now. But if they are not, they get an all day all ride pass.

The board walk looks different in the summer time. The Santa Cruz Board Walk is geared for arcades. The Board Walk doesn't attempt to sell you every thing it can. These pictures are taken in the middle of winter. The difference being, instead of a bunch of people littering the beach, a bunch of driftwood is littering the beach. This happens every winter just like what happens every summer. Nothing new. However, in the tradition of something different, the winter pictures of Santa Cruz are shown because it will not look like this in the summer. Gives the viewer something to imagine.

You may not see the importance of this arcade picture. Here it is: In the middle of winter there is no business to speak of. This is a summer business. Just after the stormy months the area is a true mess. In the middle of all this chaos, and cash flow crunch, the board walk buildings are kept cheery and clean.

A fun place where you'll spend your last evening under the vacation plan. After this evening and on Sunday afternoon you will be taken to SFO for the flight out. That is assuming you want to go. I'm sure you can stay. San Francisco, Monterey, and Santa Cruz love tourists. They have room for you.
