Under Water World is a tourist attraction. The design of this facility is not that of an aquarium to disseminate massive amounts of educational material. Rather, this is a facility to be experienced. Under Water World is not like the a general aquarium. This is what one would call a surround sound adventure. For those nonSCUBA divers on this vacation, this is as close as it gets to really being there.
Doesn't inspire confidence for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge does it?
Because Pier 39 is so much apart of this vacation a bunch of pictures of Pier 39 were taken. Pier 39 has lots of shops. Pier 39 is an awe inspiring tourist trap. For sure, Pier 39 was designed to sell things to you. While taking pictures of the shops, one shop had this poster hanging in the window.
A word about copyright infringement. This picture is of a poster in a Pier 39 shop window, and as such, has reflections of the store window across the way, thus it can be considered rendered. Additionally, it was a picture of the general area which qualifies as news. However, to be free of copyright infringement is should include the surrounding information which it doesn't. Hoping the author doesn't get mad and sue me, this is a great picture and it just had to be shown. If it were the intent of infringing on copyrights, the poster would have been digitized or I could have done one of my own but it wasn't and I didn't. This particular rendition still has the affects of the reflections in it and the creases caused by low cost hanging. If for no other reason, come to Pier 39, see this poster, buy it, and take it home with you. In the typical fashion of selling, which is the whole purpose of Pier 39, this poster expresses the artists opinion of the safety of The Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco. Who am I to argue? This is capturing the expression of Pier 39, in that Pier 39 markets slightly different things to meet the fancy of tourists. Additional to capturing the marketing spirit of the businesses on Pier 39, it is a picture of fate. It captures the imagination of a realistic possibility to San Francisco, and The Golden Gate Bridge. It's a great picture.
Who would want to cross the Golden Gate Bridge if this happened? Who would want to visit San Francisco if this happened? Because of this poster's content, it is guaranteed to become the center piece of any room. Something about this art piece which inspires gawking. Buy it, frame it, and put it up in your office, den, or somewhere you have people looking around and you will see an interesting affect. This poster is a natural attraction. You'll get odd ball comments like "did you see that?" Yea sure, you saw it on your last trip to San Francisco. You can answer the next idiot question; "Didn't that wave destroy the Golden Gate Bridge?" With: "You should see what it did to San Francisco." On the other hand, I know surfers who'd go out and meet that wave.
One might think that such a picture is not important or even such a joke. One only needs to look at the forces today whom would take another's right to free speech away. These forces include, and for sure are not limited to, the great State of Texas Cattleman's association and or the such in an attack against Oprah's opinion about beef; and the United States Assembly whom voted for a constitutional amendment in favor of mandated patriotism such that one can not burn the flag. Burnt your flag??? No problem, I know at least a hundred flag dealers who'd sell you another one. This constitutional amendment prohibiting burning the U.S. Flag is mandated patriotism of the Nazi class. The Assemblymen whom voted for this amendment are not patriots to the principle of free expression. These are true tyrants whom demand under penalty of law, respect. Hope Americans who understand what the 1st amendment right means wake up. This pictures negative association with the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco is exactly the same thing as not portraying beef in a favorable light or waving the flag the way you are told. Personally, I hope this poster sells well.
What the hell does the above have to do with SCUBA? For one, California would like to regulate SCUBA diving in the state. Something, those whom have viewed this site and gone on this trip would know, is not what the dive host is thrilled about. R&R does not mean Rules and Regulations. R&R means Rest and Relaxation for tomorrow you may die. There is no guarantee or warrantee to life and SCUBA divers must know that. SCUBA diving is dangerous. So what? That doesn't mean the government should regulate it.
San Francisco California, USA, is a unique world class city. This trip will not begin to show you all San Francisco has to offer. Compared to some of the rather ridged cities in the United States, San Francisco is a lot like the picture. Earthquakes keep knocking the city down, but San Francisco is still here and big as ever. The typical San Franciscan looks at life a little different than the rest of the country. San Franciscans' for sure are more open minded. San Franciscans' tolerate different things such that there are many different things to choose from. Every type of religion is practiced in San Francisco, including those which seem rather strange and sadistic. As such, the risk involved with walking around San Francisco can be a lot like SCUBA diving in the deep blue to someone who doesn't know the area. One can easily give a local the wrong impression. Free expression has its positive and negative sides. One can not be too closed minded nor naive when visiting San Francisco. Comparably speaking, San Francisco's character hasn't changed much since the 1849 gold rush. San Francisco still represents the wild an wooly west.
After the tour thru Under Water World Sunday afternoon you will have the rest of the day and night to see the sights. Around Pier 39 there are many restaurants. Fish food galore; crabs, lobster, shark, clams, and abalone dinners are all here. The Endangered Species shop has many interesting figurines. Red Skelton has representation on the water front. There is a wax museum to see, old boats to walk around, and clubs to visit. Not to mention the dozen or so street musicians and vendors in the immediate vicinity of Pier 39. In San Francisco, fish food isn't all one can get. There is asian, eastern, indian, western, and exotic food restaurants too. A light rail system connects Pier 39 with the Ferry Building which is next to the Hyatt Hotel. The walk along the bay from Pier 39 to the Hyatt Hotel is not bad either. Rather pretty walk.
